In order to get a credit card, you need to know your credit score to see what you are eligible for. All credit card companies check your credit when you apply for a credit card. Credit score is a range of numbers (0 to 850) that measures your creditworthiness or the likelihood of you paying money back.

0 - When you have a credit score of 0 it either means that your credit score is non-existent or really bad.

720 - 850 - Excellent Score

The highest your credit score is, the lower interest rate you will receive.
The interest rate is basically how much the credit institution is charging you for just borrowing their money.

Getting a Credit Card
If you have no credit and are interested in getting a credit card, you might want to get a Secured Credit Card. A Secured Credit card is backed by a security deposit that the credit card company requires you to pay up-front. This will be your credit limit. At the end of your "probation period" the money is returned to you and your credit line may increase.
